Brabus Mercedes EQS 450 pumps up range, not power

The car industry is on new paths, which means drivers can’t be far behind. We don’t expect Brabus, though, where the power range is 900 hp supercar tune called “Superblack” – was among the first to improve Brand convert. The German regulator created a tights for a battery-powered Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 focus on scope instead of power. The sedan’s 355 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque are unchanged. Brabus says the estimated range of 380 to 457 miles on the European WLTP cycle improved by up to 7% at speeds between 60 and 87 mph. With a long freeway, that could mean a sane extension in the 407 to 489 mile range.

The longer distance, thanks to the coefficient of drag reduced by the same percentage, makes the EQS about as slippery as GM EV1 and Volkswagen XL1 on the Autobahn.

Improvements to the bodykit include a new front spoiler and new side intakes, wheel arch spoilers, a new deck spoiler and a reshaped rear diffuser. Brabus engineers also programmed the sedan’s air suspension to drop 0.6 inches at the front and 0.8 inches at the rear, and bolted it on Brabus’ 22-inch Monoblok wheels wrapped in 255 tyres. /35 front and 295/30 tires at the rear. That’s a huge leap over stock, both in wheel size and tire width. At the European show floor, the EQS 450 sits on 19-inch wheels with 235/55 rubber all around. As with all Brabus things, customers have options when it comes to wheels, but we find switching to a set of 10-spoke tuning rims will suit some.

The base sedan is priced at €111,134 before options are available in Germany. Brabus charged €173,890 ($178,378) for its version, which is now open to pre-orders.
