More often than not, if you see a Mercedes-Benz G-Class in a movie, it is being driven by a villain. It only an SUV with an attractive appearanceAnd what could make it scarier than if it were seriously armored?
G-Luong Armor is not new, but not all armored vehicles are created equal. Many of them cause a lot of inconvenience to passengers and security personnel operating the vehicle. For example, armor plating reduces internal volume and makes doors harder to get in and out of. The armor plating is heavy, so the car is bound to handle poorly if the exterior doesn’t address the suspension and chassis components. German Mercedes tuner Brabus is thinking things a little more completely than that, however, with its Invicto armored vehicle line.
As you would expect, a company like Brabus, has built its reputation on Mercedes and AMG products are irrationally engineered and overpowered, won’t take any half-hearted measures for customer safety and shows how thorough its transition is; it allows filmmakers from Documentary Welt to film.
The documentary is almost an hour long, but it’s very engaging. The way the car’s suspension has been redesigned to withstand an extra tonne or more is impressive, and the way Brabus engineers were able to utilize the natural shape of the body. G-Class to fit more snugly with the safety umbrella armor without seriously affecting the interior space is also quite wild.
Even if you don’t have any future plans to become an extremely wealthy autocrat or a head of state somewhere, this documentary is still well worth watching. When people talk about German engineering, the level of attention to detail and fastidiousness is what they are talking about.
