Hello everyone and welcome back to another edition of Box art war!
Before we get into this week’s battle, let’s see how things play out last time. We see Turok 2: Seed of Evil for N64 and oh my god Oh my God, is it a close one. It seemed like many of you weren’t too keen on either design, but in the end, the Western variant won with 51% of the votes.
This time, with full disclosure about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Fresh in our minds, we’re looking at the final main game in the series: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Launched for the Wii in 2007, it takes full advantage of the console’s motion controls to deliver an immersive gameplay experience that feels natural and evolutionary (just make sure to switch controls movement to ‘advanced’!).
This time we get another duel, with North America and Europe teaming up to take on Japan. So without further ado, let’s get to it.
Be sure to cast your vote in the poll below; But first, let’s take a look at the box art designs.
Europe/North America
The Western design for Corruption focuses primarily on the dynamic between Samus and Dark Samus, with the two standing back-to-back against a beautiful backdrop set in space. Granted, we’re not sure why there’s such a weird image of Dark Samus again at the top left, but damn it, we’ll take it.
Japan
Meanwhile, the Japanese variant features almost all of Corruption’s main players, including Samus, Dark Samus, Meta Ridley, and three hunters: Rundas, Ghor, and Gandrayda. Oh, and a little Union soldier in the background. Cute. We love the composition of this shot, but does it capture the wonderful light and shadow of Western design..? Um.
Thanks for voting! See you next time for another round of Box Art Brawl.
