Bon Secours Partners with Philips for 10 Years of Patient Tracking

Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health is partnering with Royal Philips to deploy and scale the new patient tracking platform over the next three years – and then monitor it over the next seven years.

WHY IT MATTERS

As one of the largest Catholic health systems in the country, BSMH has more than 1,200 health care facilities and 49 hospitals across Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia, as well as in Ireland.

The new partnership will “transform care delivery,” said Jodi Pahl, the health system’s chief nursing officer for workforce experience and nursing outcomes.

Philips says the platform can improve care processes, enable predictable billing and enhance BSMH’s ability to innovate.

By removing time-consuming data barriers that staff face, BSMH can bring quality care to more people, notes Julia Strandberg, business director of Connected Care at Philips.

“This partnership is a testament to BSMH’s focus on strong clinical performance and our shared commitment to improving the patient and staff experience,” she said.

THE BIGGER TREND

Bon Secours focuses on improving employee experience through digital transformation, moving into the world of consumer experience management technology.

With a modern system, healthcare systems can collect, analyze and act on direct feedback from staff.

“Overall, turnover has dropped by more than 5%, which is a testament to the impact of listening and acting on feedback,” said Joe Filigno, vice president of people strategy and collaborative experience. Healthcare IT News last year.

Adding data from patient monitoring could further improve the BSMH staff experience.

Last year, Northwell Health added enterprise-wide patient tracking to improve the patient and staff experience. The system provides visibility into what’s happening at each patient’s bedside, Phyllis McCready, vice president and chief procurement officer at Northwell Health, said in a statement.

ON PROFILE

“This partnership is part of our commitment to improve the quality of health care while reducing costs and addressing health care issues facing entire communities,” Pahl said in a statement.

“As BSMH’s clinical technology partner, we are working to understand their needs and implement innovative technologies that can improve patient outcomes,” Strandberg added.
