BMW i7 and iX1 electric cars on their way to Australia


BMW car have all but confirm that it is adding i7 large and compact sedan iX1 SUV for its existing line of electric vehicles in Australia.

Both models have been added to the BMW Australia website, complete with a “Register Your Interests” option.

The company has not officially confirmed either vehicle for our market, but is expected to announce local details for the i7 when it is officially revealed next week.

The IX1 is on track to be revealed before the end of 2022, hot after the next-generation petrol model. Local details are likely to be announced in tandem with the car’s reveal.

When it arrives, iX1 will take over Mercedes-Benz EQA, Volvo XC40 Pure Chargerand even Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Blog BMW It was previously reported that the electric iX1 will be offered with a single engine variant of 135kW and a dual all-wheel drive setup with a total system output of around 185kW.

Meanwhile, the i7 will face off against Mercedes-Benz EQS when it hits down.

It will be revealed at the Beijing 2022 China auto show in April, due to i7 xDrive60. According to the BMW USA website, it will have a range of 521 km using the EPA test cycle, and power and torque have not been revealed.

The BMW iX M60 SUV has 455kW of power and 1100Nm of torque in peak drive mode, while even the single-seat xDrive50 has 385kW and 765Nm.

BMW has started to push electric in Australia with i4 four-door coupeand iX3 and iX SUV.

So far in 2022, the brand has sold 214 electric vehicles, behind Mercedes-Benz (490) in the race to sell luxury electric cars. However, it comfortably fronts Audi, which only sold 33 units e-tron SUV.

Tesla dominates local electric vehicle sales, with 4417 sales in the first quarter of 2022.
