BMW, AirConsole team up for in-car gaming
Gamers rise up. Those are rich gamers. BMW car is partnering with AirConsole, a gaming platform, to bring video games to BMW car infotainment screen.
Plan, follow a statement from the German car manufacturer, is for the smartphone to act as a controller, while the games are displayed on the vehicle’s central display. The project is expected to start construction next year. Like most things with new vehicles these days, games will be delivered to media screens over the air.
This move is being made in an effort to make waiting for your BMW to charge up a little less boringPosition.
“With AirConsole, we will leverage cutting-edge technologies combined with exciting and multiplayer games,” said Stephen Durach, Senior Vice President, BMW Connected Company Development. “This will make any waiting situation inside the car, such as charging the battery, an exciting moment.”

Samsung Early Friday Black Friday
Attached to your very expensive electric car. To establish a connection between the phone and the display, all you need to do is scan the QR code displayed on the infotainment system. Do it and boom you’ll be in.
This isn’t the automaker’s first foray into in-car gaming. Perhaps the most notable is Tesla. Those cars come preloaded with some games that make killing time with an EV charger a little more pleasant. However, unlike BMW, which uses your smartphone as a controller, the Tesla uses controls from your actual steering wheel – including physically turning the wheel itself. It looks like BMW’s partnership with AirConsole won’t support such a thing.
Anyway, it’s interesting to see what automakers are doing to make it easier for people to just sit around while their cars charge.
