Blue Jays’ Guerrero, Phillies’ Harper win Hank Aaron Awards


Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper have gained Hank Aaron Awards because the excellent offensive performers in every league as voted by MLB.com and a panel of Corridor of Famers.


Guerrero tied for the foremost league house run lead with 48 and led the AL in OPS (1.002), slugging proportion (.601) and on-base proportion (.401).


Harper, who gained in 2015 with Washington, led the foremost leagues in OPS (1.044) and slugging proportion (.615) and tied for first with 42 doubles.


Every workforce nominated one participant, MLB.com reporters picked seven finalists and a panel of Corridor of Famers decided the winners, a gaggle that included newcomers Chipper Jones, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz and holdovers Johnny Bench, Craig Biggio, Ken Griffey Jr., Eddie Murray and Robin Yount.


The award started in 1999 and is called for Corridor of Famer Hank Aaron, who died in January.
