Black Wolf carpooling app lets people book armed drivers

With crime rates rising in Atlanta and shootings dominating the headlines almost weekly, a carpooling app based in Dunwoody, Georgia, lets people hire armed drivers .

The Black Wolf app is here to make a difference in Atlanta

According to WSB-TV, the idea for black wolf app hatched by Kerry KingBrown last year.

At the time, KingBrown—who used to be a professional bodyguard for celebrities and politicians—was providing carpooling for his friend’s children and he wanted to allow people to have the same experience. safe car.

“We have clients from the political sphere to blue-collar workers on a daily basis.”

KingBrown notes that all drivers with the Black Wolf App have worked in the military, law enforcement or private security for at least 5 years.

“Our drivers are military, law enforcement agencies who have been working in the private security world for more than five years. That’s the minimum we ask for. They can see a situation unfolding before it happens.”

The company has just completed its first month, and KingBrown estimates it has “probably made more than 180 trips to date.”

Despite some criticism, KingBrown said he plans to expand to Los Angeles and continue to provide services.

“We want to take the pressure off you, ease your responsibility as the driver. I’m not going to hear anyone say it won’t work, because it’s working.”

We would like to add that all Black Wolf App operators are trained in de-escalation techniques and have not used any weapons.

In terms of cost, it’s about the same as Uber Black or about 50% more expensive than a standard ride.

Equipping a slideshow driver has become a hot topic of discussion

It is important to note that this initiative is not a surprise.

Just last week, someone shot and killed a 30-year-old woman named Teisha Brewery in the back seat of an Uber in Buckhead. Authorities believe it was a “targeted incident”.

We should add that Scott Turner (R-Ga.) introduced a bill in 2019 that would allow carpoolers to carry guns. While defending the move, Turner noted that preventing carpoolers from carrying guns would turn them into “sitting ducks”.

“Current policy is turning carpool drivers into squatting ducks and they know it. Even if they don’t, the drivers who don’t ride will benefit from the carriers because people won’t see them as soft targets anymore.”

The bill ultimately failed, although the Black Wolf App is providing another avenue to serve as a solution.
