Biden blows up another gas pipeline again – Splashing for that?

From THE PIPELINE

Clarice Feldman writes,

Are you perplexed by an administration that, to take just one example, adopts a policy of open borders in the country while praising the sanctity of the border in connection with Russia’s aggressions in Ukraine? There is an easy answer: its policy is to strengthen the hand and fill the pockets of those who oppose and want to weaken us all the time, while harming the interests of American citizens and our allies abroad.

Get seven billion dollars Eastern Mediterranean Gas Pipeline. In August 2020 I report How the Greeks, Cypriots and Israelis coordinated plans for a 1,200-mile undersea pipeline connecting the Israeli and Cypriot gas fields with Greece and then on to Europe. This is a large, costly project in which, Agreement of Abraham Founded by then-President Trump, the United Arab Emirates had significant interests, including a 22% stake in Israel’s large Tamar gas field.

Putin is watching

President Trump supports the pipeline. But President Biden, in an “unofficial” communication (an unofficial communication), informed the Greek government that we no longer support the project, allegedly because it posed a security threat to the region. Except, of course, when Russia wants an exemption to build Nord Stream 2, a non-green gas pipeline to Europe, it doesn’t have to.

The Eastern Mediterranean Pipeline will benefit our allies Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the UAE. It will also provide much-needed future energy supplies to Western Europe, which has engaged in suicidal green policies. As a result, Western Europe at the moment faces a cold winter with insufficient energy, predictable shortages, higher prices and possible economic consequences, including discontinuance of production.

It is hard to sympathize with a Europe whose leaders have made their shortages of natural energy sources like coal and oil worse by adopting explicitly anti-energy policies. Its governments have banned hydraulic shale fracturing because it has a substantial amount of technically recoverable shale gas. Coal-rich Germany has made itself dependent on external energy sources, mainly Russian gas, has closed three nuclear plants and plans to build three more this year. It has allowed LNG import terminals to have difficulty allowing for delays, cutting off another possible source.

But even if you have some sympathy for our allies on this score, support withdrawal because the pipeline would harm US interests. If we want to prevent Russian entry into Ukraine, we are being hindered by Europe’s dependence on Russian gas (about 40% of imports today) and will certainly increase. To tighten the screws, Russia has the potential to do great damage by implementing a gas embargo or simply cutting gas supplies, leaving Europe in a dependency. Besides. Russia has played a large role in promoting “green” opposition to energy in Western Europe.
