Best places to work for disability professionals include Amazon, Google in new report


In 2021, 77% disabled workers say their employers have done a better job of supporting them since the pandemic began. Now, companies are building on that support, with a dramatic increase in leadership and board diversity, according to 2022 Disability Equality Index report from People with Disabilities: IN, a global organization advocating for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace.

An increase in people with disabilities in leadership roles was one of the most prominent trends in the report, with 126 companies having senior executives known internally as disabled. In 2021, only 99 companies have this type of representation at the executive level.

The report also found that 6% of companies now have people openly claiming to be disabled on their boards, and 74% of companies have investments in businesses owned by people with disabilities, not shows only an internal change, but also an attempt to diversify external relationships such as the Good.

Kennedy Jr., a pediatric bone cancer survivor and amputee, says that the companies that have worked to create these equal workspaces are “committed to the highest level” to support and enhance their disabled talents.

Kennedy Jr told CNBC Make It: “People with disabilities are extremely adaptable and creative because they have to be creative and adapt to different environments, throughout their lives. “There’s also less revenue with disabled employees. They’re grateful to have a job and someone to give them a chance, so they’ll be extremely loyal.”
