ICICI also shared an email while alerting its customers to a new type of fraud that is growing in popularity.

“We have received many genuine requests for money during these difficult times, so a request from a known acquaintance would not feel over the norm,” ICICI said in an email. ICICI said in an email. Tips to stay safe and secure with mobile banking

• Do not track any URL in the message that you are not sure about.
• If you must share your mobile device with anyone else, make sure to clear your browsing history, cache, temporary files, and block your mobile banking app.
• Only download apps from official app stores such as Apple App Store, Google Play Store, etc.
• Never reveal personal information or online banking credentials via e-mail or text message as they can be used for identity theft.
• Sign out of the app or online mobile banking as soon as you complete your transactions. Also make sure you close that window. Always verify app permissions and grant only those with relevant context for the app’s purposes.
• Avoid using unsecured, unknown Wi-Fi networks.
• In case you experience any form of bank fraud, report it to your bank immediately.
