Pretty Ricky singer Baby Blue was sentenced to 20 months in prison for PPP loan fraud.
The Love & Hip Hop: The Miami star was arrested with and 28-year-old Tonye C. Johnson of Pennsylvania for their roles in a $24 million COVID-19 relief money fraud scam.
According to the government, the reality TV star received money to buy a Ferrari by forging documents to get a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan worth nearly $427,000. He allegedly spent money on hotels, flashy hotels and casinos, care and more.
PPP loans are intended to help support businesses that survive the pandemic. That said, many small businesses in need have been unable to obtain loans, and many large companies with deep pockets (and smaller businesses with no need) have been given loans.
In May, he warned people against taking out PPP loans.
“Using the money for anything other than the heavily government-monitored Payroll is ‘INCIDENT.’ Just say NO! Just say NO! If I’m too late and you’ve already received the Loan PPP, please offer refund. Do the right thing,” he wrote. “I would hate to see anyone else get in trouble with the law from this on. I deeply regret making this clear and hope someone reads this message and makes a decision. right,” wrote Baby Blue.
