Axia stops on the way to buy mangga jeruk in Bangi, causes an accident with X-Trail, motorbike

Have you noticed that lately we have more and more mangga jeruk asam boi Vendors stationed at traffic lights in the Klang Valley? It seems that these peddlers are now operating on our roads in general, not just stopping at vehicular stops. The footage committed below shows an unfortunate accident involving one.

Believed to have taken place in Bangi, the clip shows a Perodua Axia driver stopping in the middle of traffic to buy the aforementioned snack. As the cars ahead were moving, the stationary Axia caused an unnecessary stretch. To avoid Perodua, a Nissan X-Trail then tried to change lanes but hit the road of a helpless motorcycle.

The X-Trail driver then simply drove away, leaving the motorcyclist alone to get hit. Thankfully, the rider appeared to be okay after the crash, aided by a street vendor and another cyclist who stopped to help. It must have been a chain of unfortunate events, started by the Axia driver blatantly stopping in the middle of the traffic.

So who is to blame? Well, the Perodua certainly shouldn’t be stopped, the seller may have picked a more suitable location to sell his stuff, and Nissan drivers should definitely check their mirrors before changing lanes (and not leaving from the scene of such an accident). Even the less fortunate cyclists can ride a little slower while the lane is divided in slow-moving traffic.

Also, did you know that street vendors in Malaysia are illegal, and so is their purchase? Local road traffic rules state that it is illegal to buy and sell goods at intersections and traffic lights in Malaysia. Those caught (both sellers and buyers!) can be fined up to RM2,000 for this offence.

It’s certainly not an acceptable risk to get some manga Jeruk on your way home and even more so when you can cause a completely avoidable accident like this one. Dear Malaysians, please be more responsible on the road as well as take care of each other. We’re better than this, don’t you agree?
