Australia’s regime change is needed for climate cooperation with China – Are you interested in that?

The mouthpiece of the Chinese Communists South China Morning Post has asked Australia to elect a Labor government, if we want climate cooperation and prosperity from trade with China.

In a report by the Australia-China Relations Institute, they denied naivety and said they see business opportunity in Beijing’s commitment to clean energy.

- Australian companies are continuing to do business with China not only for commercial reasons but because of focus on climate change and policies to reduce carbon emissions, new research has found.

However, the Australian government can do much more to promote this, said ICF’s lead climate expert, Huw Slater, who is based in Beijing.

ACRI report author Glenda Korporaal said next year’s Australian national election could be another opportunity to re-establish ties.
A Labor government – as opposed to the current Liberal government – would handle the relationship with China differently, she said.
“I think there will be less gratuitous crime. I think they will try and have a better relationship,” she said during a webinar discussing the report.

Author Glenda Korporaal of the ACRI report “No Cause of Crime” addresses Australia’s opposition to China’s alleged widespread use of slave labor and systematic genocide against the Uyghurs, and Australia assist the US in protecting freedom of navigation in the East Sea.
China has repeatedly suggested that Australia is making a big mistake by supporting the US against China, and has imposed penalties on Australia, such as economic import ban, to try to force obedience.
According to a U.S. State Department 2020 ReportChina is committing genocide against the Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. I have also heard from sources I cannot identify that the genocide has spread to Tibet and Inner Mongolia, but these reports cannot be confirmed. As the BBC reports, China appears to be conducting a “unprecedented intimidation campaign against journalists“.
Even so, Australia’s commitment to alignment with the US is not as stable as most people think. China may be trying to exploit the fault lines.

Personally, I’d like to send the people who arranged Whitlam’s downfall a thank you card that, in my opinion, could have saved Australia from the Cuban-style Communist dictatorship. This happened shortly before Whitlam was fired.
But there are many Australians, most and not just the left of Australian politics, who, even after all this time, resent the alleged roles of the United States and Britain in the downfall of Australia. Whitlam. Labor politicians who were teenage activists under Whitlam, who experienced the bitterness of downfall as impressionable children, now run the Labor Party. Many of these people also support radical climate action.
