Australian Senator Malcolm Roberts Makes False Claims Of Net Inflation Without Inflation – Is There Objection To That?
Former Mining Engineer Senator Malcolm Roberts is one of the few Australian federal politicians who has the courage to publicly criticize green madness.
WIND AND SUN CANNOT SOLVE HIGH ELECTRICITY AND INFLATION PRICES
Alan Finkel was right when he said We are at a turning point in history. There are two paths for Australia to choose from. One is leading to a country where manufacturing thrives and everyone, including the poor, enjoys a better standard of living thanks to affordable and reliable electricity. On the other hand, electricity prices continue to rise and the stability of our grid is at risk.
With the highest amount of wind, solar and battery power entering the grid in history, Australia’s wholesale electricity prices have never been higher. All Australians will feel the brunt of these price hikes. This is the main cause of our current inflation and it will only get worse, as I have warned for two years.
Despite the pure fallacies, there is an inevitable truth. Wind and solar cannot solve the problem of high electricity prices and inflation.
The net-zero commitment means that the Government has signed a white check on the wind, solar and battery industries whose only solution is the same shortage of electricity and high prices.
For example, the closure of the Liddell coal-fired power plant would result in a loss of 2000MW of convertible electricity.
With unreliable renewables operating on average at 23% of rated capacity due to wind and solar breaks for days, Australia will need hundreds of square kilometers of solar panels to replace Liddell.[1]
Those hundreds of square kilometers of panels, even when operating at full capacity, will not ensure that the power is generated when needed. Solar power peaks at midday, a far cry from peak demand in the early morning and evening. A months-long wind-driven drought has ravaged Europe.[2] Batteries cannot and will not fix the void.
The largest battery in Australia can deliver 300MW in an hour and a half, a low compared to the 2000MW Liddell can produce.[3] That’s even before we consider that due to the transmission and conversion of electricity, battery storage can waste about 20% of the energy that we use to charge them.[4]
What does all this mean? Wind and solar subsidies force other, more reliable sources of electricity out of the market. Coal power plants are forced to retire early. The kernel can’t even be investigated.
Wind and sun are inefficient and intermittent. There is less power supply and it is more unreliable. That makes power more expensive and risky for businesses, employers and salaried people.
Wind, solar and battery proponents claim that a ‘grid transition plan’ can address all of this. What is rarely talked about is that the coal cleanup scheme could cost $320 billion, a cost that one way or another Australians will have to pay out of their own pocket.[5]
Australia is facing a cost of living and inflation crisis. We have to give up wind and solar absorption which is not recommended which will continue to make electricity bills more expensive.
Instead, we must stop decarbonizing coal and build coal-fired power plants to finance our transition. Power companies must know that the government won’t force coal to be demolished so they can freely invest to maintain existing assets and build more.
Wherever possible, we must build suitable hydroelectric and hydroelectric dams. Snowy Hydro 2.0 made false promises about hydraulic pump.[6]
And finally, we have to investigate nuclear energy. Australia has had a nuclear reactor operating in Lucas Heights, Sydney since 1958.[7] Australia’s nuclear power ban is no longer fit for purpose. Everything must be brought to the table for investigation if it means lowering Australia’s electricity bill.
While nuclear power is generally more expensive than coal and hydro, in places like South Australia with huge uranium reserves and low thermal value coal, nuclear still needs to be considered.
It may take years before some of these solutions take effect, but it will be even longer if we don’t start them now. Decades of politicians making decisions for the next election instead of the next generation have plunged Australia into this inflation and cost of living crisis. We must act today with a vision for the future, rooted in reality and with a single focus on making Australian lives cheaper and easier while remaining environmentally responsible.
