Miss Elfin sports car? After lying dormant for a decade, the iconic Australian street car maker is making a comeback.
Young Timer Garage (YTG)A classic, prestigious and collector’s car dealer based in Keysborough in Melbourne’s south-east, announced the acquisition of the long-established Australian manufacturer from the Walkinshaw Group this week.
“We believe Elfin Sports Cars has tremendous potential and we are delighted to be working with the brand’s passionate community of dedicated fans, owners and previous managers/customers. here to develop new and exciting products, so Elfin’s legacy lives on once again,” said Shaun Baker, YTG founder and Elfin CEO.
“We thank the Walkinshaw Automotive Group for entrusting us with this iconic brand and we look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Goblin Type 5 -
Since its first incarnation in 2006, Elfin has produced a pair of V8-powered sports cars – the MS8 Streamliner and the MS8 Clubman, both with Gen III versions of the 5.7-liter V8 from the VZ- Holden Commodore series.
Pictured here is the last car the company produced, the Type 5, an entry-level four-cylinder open-wheel drive that looks a bit like a Caterham Seven.
Elfin dates back to 1959, when it was originally founded by Garrie Cooper as an Australian sports car manufacturer.
The Aussie Company has a collection of 29 driver’s championships in multiple categories, with entries in Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 as well as Formula Ford and Group A racing.
Drivers in the brand’s motorsport history include F1 champions James Hunt and Didier Pironi.

YTG has yet to say exactly what their “exciting plans” for the Elfin brand are, but from the company’s media release, it can be understood that they plan to “produce road and road cars High-quality, high-performance racing is true to the Elfin pedigree of the future.”
Whether that involves brand new models or the re-start of production of the brand’s most recent trio of models is unknown.
