Why electricity bills could increase 35% next year? It’s part of a bigger problem

Earlier this week, the boss of Alinta Energy said retail electricity prices could rise by more than 35% next year.

They say renewable energy will provide cheaper electricity bills in the long run, but the upfront costs involved forward The renewable energy network will be bigand since everything was left behind so late, the chaotic nature of the transition would likely make it more costly than it would have been if the transition had been planned.

The ABC blamed a lack of planning and the “disorderly” early closure of coal plants for a temporary spike in energy costs. So it’s still coal’s fault, even though they’re helping the green transition by pulling out of the market.

This of course raises an obvious question – if the closure of a coal plant causes such turmoil, why can’t the government simply build a new coal plant, to ease the pain? of the green transition?

Surely a makeshift coal plant worth several billion dollars would be better than shutting down ordinary households at the enormous cost of a “chaotic transition.”
