Audiobook – Astro Tough Album Review

After three years of waiting audiobook are back with a sequel to their special debut album Now! (In a minute) with the release of their second album – Astro Tough. The seemingly odd couple (think Sparks / Soft Cell / Let’s Eat Grandma) have a chemistry that translates into some amazing and unique personal musical creations. The award-winning Welsh producer (FKA Twigs / The xx / Sampha / Blossoms / Caribou, etc.) and fine art graduate Goldsmiths / Storm Models may not be an obvious combination but the combined creation of David Wrench and Evangeline Ling is both magical and enchanting.

With Now! (for a minute) Wrench and Ling find their feet and test the water, taking the first tentative steps toward creating their own inspirational sound. Three years on, David and Evangeline have really made a name for themselves. audiobooks are no longer looking for the sweet spot they’ve hit in the most spectacular way possible with their new ten track album Astro Tough. Astro Tough It’s a bit less experimental than its predecessor, but the creativity of both David and Evangeline hasn’t been diminished, instead it has been honed and polished to create one of the best recordings ever made. The best crafting you’ll likely hear this year.

More time has been spent Astro Tough to make it just right, with Wrench explaining that “The first record was almost entirely the first record, all by improvisation. This time we’re going to do it, then go back and tweak it it took a little longer to perfect the parts, go back and redo some of the vocals. Whatever got us overheard, we went back and ironed it out.” More attention. to the details and audience reaction to the songs being streamed, has been hugely profitable. Astro Tough dotted with quirky hooks and addictive earworms.

The irresistible combination of electronic music by David Wrench and Evangeline Ling’s signature vocals make the work throughout the album in every way. The deep bass rhythm of the album’s lead single and the opening track – Doll; scored with revolving keys and layered percussion built in as the track progressed, working great against Ling’s almost nonchalant vocal delivery on the second single, LaLaLa It’s the good life much more excited and energetic; shoot over with an energy of suspense and excitement.

The duo’s latest single, Black lipstick, is a disco filler waiting to happen. It was High Contrast meeting Armand Van Helden taking on Tori Professional Widow and it’s a delightful delight with dark, brooding synth notes blaring under Ling’s whispery delivery.

Elsewhere, audiobooks take their sound further to the extremes of the left-hand register with rich lyricism. English driver -(“Tell me, do you like paintings, do you like Bonnard, Monnard, Manet, Monet, Monet or Manet, he doesn’t even know the difference, he lectured me about Monet and Manet but he doesn’t even know the difference”) and the deliberate provocation and arrest Green breasts. Crash in Business Class and He calls me Bambi are tracks whose audiobooks extend their sound into cinematic territory with wider, less angular brushstrokes, creating a hypnotic and engaging musical wall. If that’s where they’re headed, we can’t wait any longer.

Evangeline Ling said, “I think this record is better than the first and I think we’re trying to make more. We’re going to try and do better. I just really want to get back in the studio. .” We couldn’t agree more that Astro Tough is a better record than their first, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable album with a superbly built sound that continually piques your interest and excites your ears. A strangeness of special pleasures.
