Audi and Porsche are recalling more than 32,000 sedans, coupes and SUVs from the years 2020 and 2021 to address a rear-axle linkage issue that may have occurred as a result of a repair related to the previous fault.
This campaign covers at least some of virtually every Audi car produced in 2021, 2020 and in the case of the RS5, some 2019, but it does not apply to each examples of each model line are built. Only those who are the subject of a Recall front and rear suspension (for a nut that can fail and cause the rear end to suddenly shift out), a section that is then not properly aligned will be affected by the new campaign. While the parts used to fix the previous failure appear to be perfectly fine, the recall process does not include instructing dealers to re-align the rear axle once the fix is complete. While less severe than the problem that the previous recall addressed, a misaligned rear end can still cause headaches, including tire wear and premature failure. Audi says customers may notice strange steering and braking behavior along with unusual wear marks on the rear tyres. And of course, since that nut is used for everything Audi makes, Audi has to check a lot of things. Of the 40,000 odd-numbered cars that were recalled to address a corroded nut issue, about three-quarters were repaired without rear axle alignment.

Owners will be notified if their car is the subject of the campaign and shouldn’t assume their car isn’t covered just because they’ve never had to take it to work; If the vehicle is purchased out of lot after the recall is made, the customer may not know if it was ever done.
