Auburn RB Tank Bigsby’s Q4 Confusion Helps Fuel Alabama’s Return to 2021 Iron Bowl



Auburn reruns the Tank Bigsby that fought for much of the Iron Bowl in 2021.

He made 29 in 63 metres, just 2.2 yards per effort, and one of those runs late in the fourth half gave Alabama a chance to bounce back from a miss after less than two minutes of play.

With 1:53 remaining, Auburn faced second and 11th at Alabama 47. Bigsby ran for 10 yards but went out of bounds. That stops the clock to just 1:47. If Bigsby is within the limit, the clock will continue to run.

The game went into overtime, where the teams traded touches, goals, and two-point conversions before Alabama eventually won 24-22 in four overtime.

Auburn defender TJ Finley told reporters after the game that he didn’t think Bigsby went out on his own but was instead an Alabama defender. The Battle of Jordan is credited with trying in the play.

The Crimson Tide (11-1, 7-1 SEC) will take on Georgia in the SEC title game next week. Auburn dropped to 6-6 and will now wait and see where it goes under freshman coach Bryan Harsin.
