Arum wants Fury V Joyce in October at Wembley
With Artur Beterbiev v Anthony Yarde seemingly a done deal for fall promoter Bob Arum was hoping for an even bigger draw for the same time of year.
The highest ranked boss is talking to Dev Sahni before Beterbiev went on to destroy Joe Smith Jr to become the WBC, IBF and WBO lightweight champion. Next for the formidable The Russian language is a mandatory defense in London against Anthony Yarde in October.
One man whose future continues to provide a constant pile of speculation is Tyson Fury. Last week, the WBC heavyweight champion revealed he will return to the ring at some point, ending his six-week retirement. He and co-promoter Frank Warren hint at a big announcement but Fury’s other promotional agent Bob Arum knows exactly who he wants ‘The Gypsy King’ to fight next.
“I expect Tyson Fury to be back in the ring before the end of the year,” Arum said.
“I think for example if Joe Joyce won his fight in early July, Tyson Fury and Joe Joyce at Wembley in early October would do the same as Dillian Whyte’s fight with Tyson Fury. That would then lead to a Fury fight with winner Joshua and Usyk. And I’m going to do the best I can to make sure the fight goes on in the UK. ”
Joyce returns on July 2 after a year playing for veteran Christian Hammer at Wembley Arena.
