America’s Day at the Race to the Melbourne Television Cup
America Day at the Races, the acclaimed national television program hosted by the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) in association with production FOX Sports, will cover the $8 million Lexus Melbourne Cup live on Monday, October 31.
America’s Race Monday broadcast will begin at 10:30 p.m. ET and will provide viewers with disability insights and analysis leading up to the third edition. 162 of the “race to stop a nation”, like the Melbourne Cup. With 24 horses racing over 3,200 meters (1.98 miles) at Flemington Racecourse, in Melbourne, Australia, the Melbourne Cup is an annual highlight of the international racing calendar.
This year’s Melbourne Cup features a wide-open pitch that includes a sentimental favorite, the Camorra-Irish run in tribute to James Casey, the 26-year son of part owner, Mark Casey. Little Casey passed away last month after a bout of illness.
Mark Casey has a substantial ownership stake in Camorra, trained by brothers Ben and JD Hayes. Camorra entered the race with an impressive record, having won the Group 2 Curragh Cup (2816 meters or 1.75 miles) in June – the same race won by Rekindling and Twilight Payment before winning the Melbourne Cup respectively in 2017 and 2020.
