Father Amazon Delivery Driver is said to have filed a class-action lawsuit against Online Retailersand they accuse the working conditions of being “inhumane” — especially for women – making it impossible for them to stop to use the restroom while working. Forbes reports that the lawsuit, filed in state court in Denver, alleges drivers had to urinate into bottles and defecate into bags inside delivery trucks instead of using the actual bathroom “at the risk of cause serious health consequences.”
Plaintiffs say by Amazon “harsh work quota” and “elaborate tracking” makes it nearly impossible to deviate from their intended route and use the bathroom, according to the outlet. Making matters even worse, the trash at Amazon fulfillment centers are “regularly overflowing” with urine bottles thrown out by employees. As you can imagine, these allegations conditions will violates several Colorado wage laws. Furthermore, the lawsuit claims Amazon force employees work during breaks, and it do do not compensate them for missed breaks.
In addition, the conditions are also said to violate discriminatory laws because they have “different effects” on women, Forbes report. One of the plaintiffs has been reprimanded by management for using the actual bathroom since she can’t pee in the bottle “because she has typical female anatomy.”
Right now, the proposed class action must first be approved by the court before it can proceed. Two groups of people are eligible: anyone who has worked as an Amazon delivery driver within the past six years, and any group Amazon Delivery Driver with “typical female anatomy.”
