Amazon buys vacuum cleaner maker Roomba for about $1.7 billion

Amazon buying back I’m a robot at $61 a share, an all-cash transaction that values maker Roomba at $1.7 billion, the companies announced Friday.
iRobot, founded in 1990 by Massachusetts Institute of Technology roboticists, is best known for making Roomba, a robot vacuum that can automatically clean consumer floors.
Shares of iRobot were halted after the deal was announced. Shares of Amazon were up about 0.2% in pre-market trading.
