With their familiar suspects – Aubrey Plaza, Molly Shannon, Fred Armisen, etc. – with that, they set out to create a fun and unexpected movie. The idea for a project focused on corporate restaurant culture originally came from Baena, who kicked it off after filming. While they often enjoy crafting a short outline and improvised dialogue for their projects, the pandemic has given them plenty of time to really tweak the script and the odd cast of characters that make up the story. “We don’t know if she’ll show up… but we definitely wrote the role for Molly, and it was really fun and easy to write because Molly was so funny and committed to every character that she played. she plays,” Brie shared. “I’ve worked with her three times before on Jeff’s films, and I think Jeff and I were really excited to let her do her best. She’s going to have a bigger hit here, while other movies I’ve worked on with her and Jeff, Small hour and Horse girl, we let her play softer characters. When we wrote it, we were really excited to say, ‘Oh, let Molly really get started!’ ”
