Alec Baldwin can open fire in deadly shooting without trigger pull
New details from the ongoing investigation into the deadly Rust shooting suggest Alec Baldwin may have opened fire without pulling the trigger.
“One of the investigators in my office happened to have a very old revolver, and so he brought it with me at my request so we could look into it and see if that’s the case. is it possible,” Santa Fe district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies told Vanity Fair.
Two investigators examined the weapon: “You can pull the hammer back without actually pulling the trigger and without actually locking it,” she explained. “So you pull it backwards partially, it doesn’t lock, and then if you let go of it, the firing pin could hit the bullet’s primer.”
Last week, producers Baldwin and Rust were sued for accidentally killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
“Halyna deserves to live,” reads the complaint. “The defendants have the right to prevent her death if they simply uphold the inviolable duty of protecting the safety of every individual on a gun site instead of curtailing life-safety procedures.” people are at stake. and ignore many complaints about safety violations.”
