Air India pilot brings female friend to cockpit during flight

ONE Indian Airlines the pilot allegedly let one of his female friends spend time in airplane cockpit on a flight from Dubai to Delhi on February 27. As you can imagine, this directly violates a series of safety standards and procedures regulated by the General Department of Civil Aviation, according to Hindustan Times.

In case you lost it:

The news came to light after a member of the crew complained to the regulator. It alleges that the captain wanted to ensure that cockpit “appear welcome” to his friend. He also requested that food and drinks normally served to business class passengers be brought to her during her hours on the plane. cockpitand this obviously disrupted the service flow.

Hindustan Times reported that the complaint alleges problems began on flight AI 915, according to Flight knowledge was flown in a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, even before the boarding process began. The crew apparently had to wait for both pilots because they were late to the reported time. Then they boarded the plane without meeting them.

In the end, the pilots boarded the plane at the same time as the passengers. The complaint then alleges that the captain asked the crew to let him know if there were any empty seats in business class so his friend (who was flying economy class) could sit on them. Unfortunately for all parties, there aren’t any seats available.

Now is where things really go awry. The outlet reports that the complaint alleges the captain asked one of the crew members to let his friend into the cockpit. He also told her to get some pillows to make it more comfortable for her to sit in the first observation seat.

“He said the cockpit should seem welcoming, warm and comfortable, as if he were preparing a living room for a girlfriend. Also to order her drinks and snacks and serve her in the cockpit. I told him, ‘Captain, I’m not comfortable serving alcohol in the cockpit. This seems to have annoyed him a lot and his whole attitude has changed from that point on. He became very irritable and rude and from there began to treat me like a servant working for him,” the crew member said in her complaint, reported by Hindustan Times.

It won’t come as a surprise, but nearly everything here is taboo in the aviation industry. The DGCA Civil Aviation Regulations report outlet states, “An employee of the aircraft operator, who is authorized by the pilot-in-command (PIC) and is required to enter the cockpit to operate the aircraft. safe operators of aircraft may only be allowed into the cockpit provided they have passed the required BA tests.” It also says that only those who have been breath-tested are allowed into the cockpit.

The crew member who filed the complaint also alleges that while the female passenger was in the cockpit, she noticed that both pilots were not in their usual positions.

“I noticed that the co-pilot was fully asleep on his pillow and the pilot in charge was sitting across from the passengers in the aft observatory chatting. The pilot in charge indicated that the co-pilot (co-pilot) was resting and sleeping in a controlled manner,” the complaint states.

If all that wasn’t enough, the complainant also said the captain was furious with her and made “sexist remarks” during the return flight. She said she believes the pilot’s behavior should be subjected to a psychiatric evaluation because he poses a risk to passenger safety.

Spokesperson for Indian Airlines told the outlet that they had formed a committee to investigate the situation.

“We have taken serious note of the reported incident and the ongoing investigations. The matter has been reported to the DGCA and we are also cooperating with the regulator’s investigation. We have zero tolerance for aspects related to the safety and health of our passengers and will take necessary action,” the airline said in a statement obtained by the airline. Hindustan Times.
