The problem is coming back. Adrien “The Problem” Broner is reportedly set to rematch (after about a year and a half out of the ring) by taking on Omar Figueroa in the main event on August 20.order Showtime card. About a decade ago, boxer 34-4-1 Broner was considered a possible heir to Floyd Mayweather’s throne as the world’s top boxer.
Things don’t turn out that way, and Broner’s obnoxious, sometimes unremarkable, behavior tends to outweigh his ring’s remarkable accomplishments, but there’s little doubt that the man This man has a lot of talent and is never uninterested in the ring. Simply put, Broner is never boring.
As for Figueroa, the 28-2-1 boxer has lost the last 2 matches in a row. A win over Broner would do wonders for his chess career. Clearly, the level of competition has gone down for Broner. Gone are the days of mixing Ohio natives with celebrities and other high profile foes.
However, one or two impressive performances can change all that. He’s still young, Broner, 32 years old. In this day and age, there’s likely plenty of time left for him to get his career on track. However, will he be disciplined? And will he still be able to perform at championship level?
Questions like that seem to revolve around Broner all the time, which is part of what makes him so interesting. His fall is noticeable, but it’s slow enough to give the impression that the guy can get his leg back if he really wanted to.
Looks like Broner and Figueroa could drop in July. That obviously won’t happen at this point, but, although nothing has been officially announced, it looks like the two men will actually square off later this summer.
