“Sorry to all my fans,” Adrien Broner posted on Instagram Monday morning, “but #Mental health is real and I don’t intend to play inside the ring. I’ve seen a lot of people die competing with their boxing careers and that’s something I wouldn’t do (sic). With those words in mind, Broner made it clear that his scheduled game Saturday against Omar Figueroa Jr. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, has been cancelled.
“Just pray for me,” he added. “I love the sport of boxing so much that I can’t give it my all and I feel like I’ve been down before because my mind isn’t 100% there and I’m damned if I make a mistake. that again.” Broner went on to make it clear that he needs to do some things on his own before getting back to work in the ring. “I need to make some changes for the better instead of worrying about other people’s feelings and pleasing them when In reality I have nothing to prove to anyone I am a world champion 4 times in 4 different weight classes and if I never lose a pair of gloves again, I feel it’s safe to say I’ll be inducted into the #BoxingHallOfFame. “
Broner then concluded that he still had a ring career ahead of him. “So I had to step back and get over this obstacle,” he said, “before I went to set my life on the inner boundary of the square again, I knew I was far away. end sport SEE YALL SOON.”
The message was accompanied by the following caption: “Hey me, I’m going a lot at this point in my life but I won’t give up, I set some more goals and I won’t stop until I finish what I started but sorry to say this but I won’t be fighting on August 20th.”
Broner, a multi-disciplinary gambler, has been known to have his problems for years, whether it’s related to his skateboarding career, law enforcement issues or mental health. his god. With that in mind, we at Boxing Insider hope and pray that the boxer emerges from this point into a happier, healthier person.
