Adams to succeed Miller in CDI’s SVP of Gaming

Churchill Downs Inc. announced on February 10 that Austin Miller would be retiring effective March 1 after eight years as CDI’s senior vice president of gaming operations.

Miller’s 15-year tenure with CDI began as president of Fair Grounds & Slots in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he led the design, construction, and launch of the company’s first gambling operation. In 2010, Miller was appointed president of Calder Casino in Miami Gardens, Fla., before moving to CDI’s corporate headquarters in Louisville, Ky., in 2013.

“Austin has been at the heart of CDI’s growth and development over the years,” said Bill Mudd, president and chief executive officer of CDI. “His bold and innovative vision for the Company’s gaming products will have a lasting impact. I am grateful for his leadership during this transformative time and wish him no nothing but the best in retirement.”

CDI promoted Maureen Adams to Miller to take on the role of senior vice president of game operations. Since 2019, Adams has served at CDI as vice president of gaming operations, where she oversaw the day-to-day operations of eight game assets as well as centralized marketing and analytics. Adams’ career with CDI spanned eight years and included time as president and general manager of Calder Casino.

“Maureen brings over 25 years of gaming experience in finance, marketing, operations and leadership in 10 different states and two countries to this important role,” said Mudd. “Not only does she deliver a proven track record of success, Maureen is exceptionally gifted in inspiring and developing her team to achieve both their personal and professional goals.”

CDI also announced the promotion of Ryan Jordan to Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development, where his responsibilities will include strategic planning at existing properties as well as design leadership and construction for new real estate throughout the Company. Jordan joined CDI in 2009 as vice president of operations for Churchill Downs Entertainment Group and was later appointed general manager of Churchill Downs.

Mudd said: “Ryan is the ideal candidate to lead the development of new properties in our portfolio. “During his 12-year career with the company, he has successfully and consistently executed complex large-scale projects with a focus on operations, hospitality and entertainment.”
