A new PS5 system software update has been released globally today – PlayStation.Blog

Thanks to the support and feedback from our PS5 beta participants, today we’re rolling out a new system software update to PS5 players globally. The update includes some highly requested features like 1440p HDMI* video output and gamelists, as well as social features like the ability to request a Screen Share from a team member, easy viewing New friends’ profiles and get notifications to help you join your friends’ games faster from the party chat.

Plus, you can now compare 3D and stereo sound on the same screen, and more easily access What’s happening from game centers. Our test beta blog post To get the full details of these features, and read on for details on some of the new and upcoming updates for the PS5 and PS App.

Search YouTube via Voice Control (Preview)

Another feature we’re excited to bring to more PS5 players is the ability to search for content on YouTube via Voice Command (Preview). From anywhere on PS5, including during gameplay, you can say “Hey PlayStation, find on Youtube.” The YouTube app will open and relevant search results will be displayed.

Note: Voice Command (Preview) is now available in English for PS5 players with US and UK subscriptions

New Features of the PS . App

In addition to these PS5 console updates, we’re gradually rolling out several new features to the PS App globally later this month, on iOS and Android:

Launch a PS Remote Play session through the PS App

PS App users will be able to launch a PS Remote Play session directly from the PS App on iOS and Android devices. To get started, make sure that the PS App is linked to your PS5 console and that your console is in Sleep Mode. Then select the “Play with PS Remote Play” icon on the PS App game center and the PS Remote Play app will automatically launch the game. To enjoy this feature, make sure PS App and PS Remote Play are both installed on your mobile device or tablet.

Request screen sharing

Similar to the PS5 feature, PS App users will be able to ask another PS5 team member to start a Screen Sharing session, then view their friends’ games from the app. This makes it easier to stay connected with friends on the go.

Thank you to all of our fans for continuing to share your suggestions and ideas. We’re constantly listening to your feedback and are committed to improving your gaming and social experience with each update. See you online!

* 1440p video output on PS5 requires a TV or PC monitor that supports 1440p/60Hz or 1440p/60Hz and 120Hz. Results may vary depending on the game being played.

VRR on PS5 supports 1080p and 4K video output but not 1440p.
