January 2019: Depp’s attorney told E! News they have “submitted a partial list of evidence that we will use to refute the underlying allegations of fraud against Mr. Depp.” Included in the filing are references to dozens of confidential videotapes “as well as” witness statements, newly discovered affidavits and transcripts from 2016, and text messages between sun and their #metoo source. “

March 2019: Depp files a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard over the Washington Post op-ed. In court documents, Depp alleges her ex’s allegations were part of an “complex hoax” to “promote her career”. He also claimed her allegations had negatively affected his career and that Heard had “violently abused” him. Additionally, he accused Heard of “making time for a new relationship” with her ex-boyfriend, Elon Muskin their marriage.
Heard’s attorney called the lawsuit a “frivolous act” and “the latest in Johnny Depp’s repeated attempts to silence Amber Heard.”
April 2019: Heard filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and detail the abuse she allegedly experienced from Depp. She said that the actor hit her, suffocated her, and shoved her. She also claims Depp is “going to be a completely different person,” who she calls “Johnny’ the Monster.”
“The only way for Amber Heard to perpetuate her hoax is to move on to new lies,” Depp’s attorney said in part of his response.
However, Heard’s attorney claimed Depp “was subjected to physical and verbal abuse” by Heard.
“Since their divorce, Mr. Depp has continued to publicly harass Ms. Heard and attempt to shock the world by denying his abusive behavior,” the attorney’s statement read. “Mr. Depp’s despicable conduct is long gone. Today, we presented indisputable evidence to the court of Mr. Depp’s abuse. It is unfortunate that it takes a judge to do so. Heard’s persistent harassment by Mr. Depp, but Mrs. Heard will take whatever action is necessary to clear up the truth.”
May 2019: Depp filed a lengthy statement supporting his ex-lover defamation lawsuit. In court documents obtained by E! News, Depp claims Heard “draws on bruises.” He also accused her of causing “serious bodily harm”. Heard’s attorney denied any charges against Heard, stating, “The evidence in this case is clear: Johnny Depp repeatedly beat Amber Heard.”
July 2019: Depp’s team reveals their plan to subpoena James Franco through surveillance footage of Pineapple Express the star entered the elevator with Heard after she allegedly got into a fight with Depp. Heard’s attorney told E! News of Franco and Heard’s video is “irrelevant.”
July 2020: Depp’s lawsuit against SunThe publisher of News Group Newspaper Ltd., will be put on trial in London’s high court.
August 2020: Heard files a $100 million allegation lawsuit against Depp in response to his 2019 filing.
November 2020: Depp lost a defamation lawsuit against News Group Newspaper Ltd. after Heard testified in that trial, alleging the actor had verbally and physically abused her, which he denied. The judge stated in the ruling, “Although he proved the essentials of his cause of action in defamation, the defendants demonstrated that what they published in the I have kept my words basically true.”
March 2021: The UK Supreme Court denied Depp’s permission to appeal the ruling. The Judge’s reasoning or conclusion is advanced on behalf of Mr. Depp with a real prospect of success. “
April 9, 2022: Heard wrote on Instagram, “Johnny is suing me for an article I wrote in the Washington Post in which I recounted my experience of domestic violence and abuse. I never named him, rather I write about the price women pay for speaking out against the men in power I continue to pay that price, but hopefully when this is over, I can move on and Johnny also. “
She added, “I have always maintained my love for Johnny and it makes me extremely painful to have to tell the details of our past lives in front of everyone. At this point, I realize the support. the continued support I have been fortunate enough to receive throughout the years, and in the coming weeks, I will rely on it more than ever. April 11, 2022: Depp’s $50 million defamation trial against Heard will begin.
