Aeroplan offers up to 50,000 points when you redeem for hotel stays, but is it a good deal?
The Air Canada Aeroplan The loyalty program offers members up to 50,000 points when they redeem Aeroplan points for hotel stays.
Register online and book by September 30, 2024 for travel between September 3, 2024 and February 28, 2025 to enjoy the following cashback levels:
- Get 10,000 points back when you redeem at least 40,000 points for your stay
- Get 25,000 points back when you redeem at least 80,000 points for your stay
- Get 50,000 points back when you redeem at least 150,000 points for your stay
Additionally, Aeroplan elite members will receive an additional 2,500 points.
There is no limit to the number of times you can redeem points during this promotion. Points will be credited to your Aeroplan account within six weeks of your stay, so make sure you have enough points in your account before booking.
If you keep Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card From Chase, you’ll get a fourth night free when you redeem your points for a hotel stay, making this offer even more appealing.

Redeem Aeroplan points for hotel stays without an Aeroplan credit card
If you don’t keep Aeroplan Credit Card from Chase or want to book no more than three nights, you will not receive the fourth free night benefit.

When considering a two-night stay at the SLS South Beach in Miami Beach, Florida, you can redeem 126,700 Aeroplan points for a Superior City View King room. Rates include taxes and fees, but are nonrefundable.
With this promotion, you’ll get 25,000 points back (by redeeming at least 80,000 points but less than 150,000 points), so the total cost you’ll pay after paying your vacation refund will be 101,700 Aeroplan points.
Alternatively, the same room type with similar terms and conditions can be purchased directly with Accor for $931.04.
With the current promotion, your 101,700 Aeroplan points would be worth $931.04, or 91 cents per point.

Redeem Aeroplan points for hotel stays with your Aeroplan credit card
If you want to book four nights with points and keep Aeroplan Credit CardThe value proposition varies, with the enticing benefit of getting a fourth night free when owning the card.
When considering staying at the same SLS South Beach hotel for four nights instead of two, you’ll find a Superior City View King room available for 189,950 points when applying your credit card’s free night.
With this promotion, you’ll get 50,000 points when you redeem at least 150,000 points for hotel stays. Remember, cardholders will also receive automatic Aeroplan 25K elite membership for the remainder of the calendar year, plus the following year.
Cardholders will also receive an additional 2,500 points, so the total cost after cashback will be 137,450 points.
The same hotel room could be booked directly with Accor on the same dates and under the same conditions for $1,862.08.
By redeeming 137,450 Aeroplan points for this stay, you’d save $1,862.08, making your points worth 1.35 cents each. This is much closer to our 1.5 cent valuation of Aeroplan points and is a respectable, if not spectacular, way to redeem your Aeroplan points.

How to earn Aeroplan points
New Air Canada Aeroplan Credit Card Applicants can earn 70,000 points after they spend $3,000 on purchases in the first three months of their account being open for just a $95 annual fee. With the card, you’ll also earn:
- 3 points per dollar spent at groceries, dining and direct purchases with Air Canada
- 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases

The last line
This new promotional offer from Aeroplan gives members the opportunity to earn up to 50,000 points when redeeming points for hotel stays.
For shorter stays where you can’t take advantage of the fourth night free offer, this isn’t a great way to redeem your Aeroplan points. Instead, you’ll often get much better value by redeeming your Aeroplan points for flights, especially on partner airlines.
If you have Aeroplan Credit Card and want to book four nights or more, this promotion offers an acceptable but not great way to redeem Aeroplan points.
