I just spent the week in Los Angeles and waited for my chance to talk about it so let’s get started. Like an official New Yorker who has built his entire personality around the city that never sleeps, I know well that there can be some rivalry between the two coasts. I’m here to tell you that this rivalry is something I have no interest in getting into.
Every time I visit LA, (four times in the last 365 days but who’s counting), I convince myself it’s time to be dual. Being a Gemini, multiple personalities is my thing and I think the LA version of myself deserves to be set free. I spent time there living with locals in Laurel Canyon, weekend in Santa Monica and staying at my favorite place, 1 West Hollywood hotel for the rest of my trip. The verdict is: LA is a city worth visiting.
While exploring the different neighborhoods of the vast city, I couldn’t help but notice the difference the approaches they take to fashion there. Out to dinner, I see people dining in the closest thing I can describe as pajamas. In New York, a dress and heels have become a requirement when out of the house, but I was inspired by the easy chic look many LA girls are sporting. Among the topless, a few of my favorite trends are running rampant throughout the city, so I decided to start a list on my phone to answer the age-old question, “What is LA fashion?” what really wear it now? The answers are below.
