In many ways, I feel like I’ve come a long way in learning about lighting, posing, wardrobe, and other important aspects of headshots and even though this video is geared towards newbies getting started, but all of the advice I give is good food for thought for those of us at any point in our journey as portrait and photography photographers. Topics I covered include wardrobe, specifically the importance of having clients bring a variety of clothes to work instead of just showing up with what they’re wearing; equipment, addresses why you should never buy cheap and how very cheap cakes are actually more expensive in the long run; re-edit; and lighting, where I discuss the strange shadow patterns commonly seen in the work of beginners.
