Powder room divided into two categories. Some serve only one purpose. You walk in, do your thing, wash your hands and leave. Then there’s the energy room that’s a sneaky wellness moment. Stress melts away as soon as you walk in. Suddenly you’re in a soothing portal of relaxing, floral tones background image, and scarves like clouds. It even smells like an escape. This type of powder room proves that the best powder room decorating ideas are more than just decorating tips. They are an unexpected entry point visit spa.
The thing with this type of powder room is that it always seems to exist in someone else’s home. I want moments immersed in rich tones and lavender essence in my everyday life. After connecting with interior designers Julia Miller of YOND Interiors, Andi Morse by Morse Designand Liza Reyes I learned that I (we) may have just that.

What is powder room?
Before we get to vanity decorating tips, it’s important to note what a vanity is: a small bathroom—sometimes called a half bathroom or guest bathroom—only a bathroom. birth and sink. No shower or tub. (The archaic name dates back to the early 1920s when people felt the term “powder room” seemed less effective in describing a place where women went to do business and shower. Sigh.)
Today, the dressing room is often the restroom that guests use. Now, it’s important to mention that many people (myself included) don’t have a proper dressing room in their home or apartment. However, I’m looking to incorporate these vanity decorating ideas into my bathroom — so I can bring mini spa-like moments into my home.

How to make the most of a small space?
Like any small space, a dressing room can be intimidating to design. Limited, even cramped spaces make any decorating decision feel daunting. Taking any design risks seems overwhelming. But don’t let that get in the way of your style, says Morse, who urges everyone to go big and bold in this room.
“Do not be afraid. Get out of your comfort zone for a bit. If you do, the results will be better if you stay the same,” she says. “This is the place to have fun in your home!” Morse adds that dramatic moments are the best way to make the most of this tiny space, but full of potential.
The best ways to go bold
Don’t hold back, as Morse said. Think of the dressing room (or your small bathroom) as a place to let the unique flag of your design fly. If you love a tone or texture that you might be afraid to incorporate in your bedroom, this is the spot to include it. Now, parameters are always the key to avoid a bunch of vibes. Reyes says that first think about the aesthetic feeling you crave. Tropic? Serenity? Botanical? Scandi?
From there, Morse suggests starting with the walls. She adds: “I like to use wallpaper, decorative tiles or bold, strong colors. “Love the big moment in the room and the rest is all the details.” Julia Miller does it the same way: Decorating the walls will first anchor the rest of the project, Miller believes. Then you “can go from there.”
5 Rules for decorating the makeup room
#1: Go Darker
Miller says that most people tend to think that you shouldn’t use dark or saturated colors, as these colors can make some spaces feel cramped and small. The powder room is different. Miller adds: “We thought it was the perfect opportunity to get in the mood.
#2: Combination wallpapers
Choose a template that’s bright, bold, and fun. After all, this is the space to go for a look you just can’t get in your home. As Morse puts it, a bold and colorful pattern is one way to “spice it up.”
#3: Make it reflective
That is, with an oversized mirror. This makes the room feel larger, says Morse. Find something on the larger side to cover most of the wall and lean towards the trim — if it tells you. This adds fun and dimension and contributes to a spa-like moment.
#4: Mark the faucet
This increased Reyes’ confidence. “I’ve used wall-mounted faucets for some vanity rooms and single-handle faucets for tight spaces,” she says.
#5: Consider loans
Since the space is small, everything in the dressing room will be noticed. For this reason, Reyes recommends carefully choosing everything you need, from your waste basket to your toilet paper dispenser to your hand towels. The same goes for spa accessories like candles. Think about when they made them available and how you felt when you saw and used them.
