Ah, the hound tooth print—remember? For some readers, the return of this trend may evoke happy memories, while others may mutter to themselves, never repeat. But, no matter where your emotions fall, there’s no denying that this print is back after checking it out. runway autumn winter 2022. And while one may still be thinking about the time they used to wear this print, it’s safe to say that this is not the print you grew up with.
Sure, there’s the occasional classic houndstooth jacket (see: Ami Paris collection), but most collections have remade this print in surprising ways. At Miu Miu, long houndstooth coats are paired with matching microskirts, while Rokh also has matching sets adorned with Unnecessary belts. In contrast, Versace used vibrant colors to create dresses, jackets and mini skirts with houndstooth tooth cuts. Regardless of how the designers interpret this print, their work has taken this archival motif and brought it into the present. And that, in fact, has made this print relevant again not only on the catwalk but with fashion sets as well.
