33 Best Black Friday Deals on Furniture and Smart Home Gear (2021)

Lenovo Smart Clock

Photograph: Lenovo

In our guide to the Best Smart Displays, we say the Lenovo Smart Clock is perfect for a bedroom. Since the display is on the small side, it works particularly well on a nightstand or dresser. The interface is minimal, but still helpful, providing at-a-glance information on important reminders or weather updates (as well as the time). The illuminated numbers will dim while you sleep, and you can charge your phone using the USB-A port on the back of the display. Less nightstand clutter means more room for water glasses! The bare-bones Smart Clock Essential is also on sale for $30 ($15 off).

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond

In our review, we say the midsize Google Nest Audio Smart Speaker (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has both great sound and a discreet design. It’s highlighted as an option that offers a lot value in the guide to the Best Google Assistant Speakers. Essentially, buyers get the most bang for their buck—and now that it’s $40 off, that’s especially true.

Shopping in a way that aligns with your morals can be tricky. That’s why we try to include several retailer options when possible! With a device made directly by Facebook (or “Meta”), it can be a bit trickier. Facebook, as a company, has faced a lot of public scrutiny. When stripped from its maker, the Portal Go (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a good gadget, and this is the best price we have seen. It’s particularly handy for video chatting, whether with long-distance relatives or with colleagues. Should you want to buy one, this deal is a goodie. Should you not, there are some other products on sale that might be a better fit.

Target, Amazon, Best Buy

Like the aforementioned Portal Go, the Facebook Portal is super handy for video calling. It’s also made by Facebook. These do go on sale a few times throughout the year; $79 is the lowest price WIRED has tracked. Here’s our full review

Amazon, Best Buy

While we prefer Google Assistant, this is the best alternative smart display for Alexa fans. It’s a good size for the kitchen counter or night stand and you can use it to watch video, ask Alexa questions, and make video calls. It also makes a nice digital photo frame if you use Amazon Photos.

Smart Home Deals

Be sure to check out our guides on How to Set Up a Smart Home and How to Keep a Smart Home Private for tips and helpful advice.

Nanoleaf Essentials Bulb.

These cool hexagonal bulbs are featured in our guide to the Best Smart Bulbs. I have one in my office and love it. There are lots of options on the market, so check that guide out for additional picks. A single bulb usually sells for $20, meaning this deal is like getting a bulb for free. Don’t need three? Single bulbs are also on sale

While they certainly aren’t cheap, Philips Hue smart lights are among the best you can buy with a wide choice of colors and temperatures, an easy-to-use app, and reliable performance. The starter kit includes three bulbs, a hub so your smart lights can connect more reliably on their own mesh network making them more responsive than lights that connect via Bluetooth, and a handy wireless dimmer switch.

Target, Amazon ($90), Best Buy

While we haven’t officially reviewed it, associate editor Parker Hall thinks this device is more than good enough to be his main thermostat. Nest thermostats are generally convenient and reliable. Their intelligent scheduling features help cut down on costs from things like heating a house when nobody’s home. Utility companies often offer rebates for installing them, too, so it may be even cheaper in the long run.

Target, Best Buy, Walmart

With single routers selling for $139, and that being a good deal, snagging two for $179 is a steal. There are newer and faster routers on the market, but this should do the trick for most homes, especially considering the price. Here’s the detailed review. Just keep in mind that there’s no support for Wi-Fi 6, so these aren’t as future-proof as some other options.

The Arlo Pro 4 is our top pick for the Best Outdoor Security Camera. This bundle includes three cameras, respective batteries, and some additional pieces like a yard sign and anti-theft mounts, all at the same price as it would usually cost to buy two of these cameras separately. The price here is hard to beat, especially for folks that were planning on buying any of the components individually.

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond

This Google Assistant camera made our list of the Best Outdoor Security Cameras, too. It will blend seamlessly with homes that already have some Google Assistant gear (or will in the future). The camera works as intended once the easy, renter-friendly installation is complete, and we like the wide-angle view combined with the motion detection. The battery lasts for quite awhile—about a month—and we think the $6 per month subscription is worth it for the additional features. You can read more about the camera in our roundup

Never miss a visitor or a package again with this budget battery-powered video doorbell from Eufy. The video footage it produces is crisp in 2K resolution and it records onto a hub you store indoors, which also doubles as a chime. Best of all, there’s no need to sign up for a subscription, but you can still connect to your doorbell or review footage on your phone when you’re out and about.

Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Adorama

The Google Chromecast With Google TV (8/10, WIRED Review) might have an annoying name, but it remains a top pick in our list of the Best 4K Streaming Devices. It’s great for Google TV and phone streaming. It has Google Assistant built in, and it’ll let you search for a show or movie to find out which of the numerous streaming services has the content you want to watch.

Lovebox (Enter BLACKFRIDAY at Checkout)

The Lovebox makes a great gift for long-distance friends or family. It’s highlighted in our guide to the Best Stress-Relieving Gifts. It allows for thoughtful, intentional words of encouragement, almost like a digital hug. Texting might work just as well, but Lovebox adds a special element of connection that some other gadgets lack.

Whether you’re looking to design the perfect yoga space or just chill out, an oil diffuser like this one from Muji can help. WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu loves it, and it’s a nice alternative to scented candles that means you don’t have to worry about any naked flames. It is recommended for spaces around 100 to 133 square feet.

Furniture Deals

Burrow’s Black Friday sale offers 10 percent off, with additional savings based on how much you spend. We tested the Arch Nomad Sectional, which is a model that includes a chaise lounge and therefore costs a bit more, and included it in our guide to the Best Couches. All configurations are on sale, and they all feature quick assembly and plush, comfortable cushions.

Specializing in couches for 1950s or 1960s-styled homes, Benchmade does a great line in luxury seating with a polished website that makes it easy to select the couch, color, and size you want. Senior WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson called this “the best-looking and most comfortable couch I’ve ever sat on.”

Some spots around the home simply cry out for a comfy armchair, and this one from Inside Weather made our best couches guide. You can customize arm style, upholstery, pillow shape, cushion shape, leg style, and more to get the perfect finish for your space. It’s also roomy for an armchair, with generous arms to set things on, and solid construction that feels like it will last.

This deal applies to more products than just the Sactional line, but those customizable, comfortable products are our favorites from Lovesac. The Sactional is featured in our guide to the Best Couches. We also really like the new and optional Stealthtech upgrade (8/10, WIRED Recommends), though it’s extremely expensive—so better to get it while it’s on sale.

Fully Jarvis Standing Desk

Fully, Amazon (Click the Coupon Button)

The Fully Jarvis standing desk has been a WIRED Gear team favorite for a while. It’s the top pick in our Work From Home Gear Guide. The discounts are matched at Amazon on most options. Just be sure to clip the corresponding on-page coupon.

Need a new bed? Now’s one of the best times to shop. Mattresses go on sale many times throughout the year, but Black Friday means the offers can be even better than they would be during events like Memorial Day. We have a separate story dedicated to the best bed deals.

Vacuum Deals

Amazon (Click the Coupon Button)

Make sure to check the coupon box located just below the price to get in on this discount, which beats last year’s Black Friday deal by $100. The WIRED Gear team loves this robot vacuum. It doubles as a mop, which helps it eviscerate any evidence that hardwood floors were ever dusty in the first place.

We wrote up a separate story dedicated to this deal when it first went live, and after a short hiatus, it’s back. Technically, it isn’t a smart vacuum, but it does convert from a stick vac to a hand vac. It also made our list of the Best Dyson Vacuums. Though it lacks voice assistance and there’s no smartphone app, we still think it’s an intelligent buy.

Topping our best robot vacuums guide, the Roomba i3+ doesn’t just do a good job cleaning your floors, it even empties its own bin (though you will have to empty the big bin on the charging base from time to time). A full bin is the most common reason a robot vacuum stops cleaning effectively, so a self-emptying model that works is a big step up.

Robot vacuums have different features here or varying capacities there, but the bottom line is that they offer a convenient way to keep up with day-to-day dust-busting. Overall, we like iRobot models. The E5 5150 has special brushes to gather up pet hair, and it’s smart enough to base its cleaning schedules around your daily routines. Our roundup of the Best Robot Vacuums has additional recommendations. This deal expires today (Black Friday).

Dyson Cyclone V10

Best Buy

It may be a couple of years old, but this Dyson (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a light, powerful stick vacuum cleaner that’s easy to handle. It runs quiet, lasts around an hour, and charges up in less than four, but it can be tricky to empty without getting messy.

This self-emptying combination robot vacuum/mop will keep your floors clean with minimal effort. We mention it in our guide to the Best Robot Vacuums. The on-page coupon brings the price down lower than we’ve seen before. Add to cart for deal.

Amazon (Click the Coupon Button)

This is the Best Cheap Robot Vacuum, and thanks to the on-page clip coupon, it’s cheaper than ever. It runs for more than 100 minutes at a time, and it can deftly navigate obstacles like cords or stray socks.

Pet owners looking for one of the best robot vacuums should consider the S6 MaxV (7/10, WIRED Recommends). It is a powerful, fast vacuum, with long battery life. There’s an optional mop attachment and a camera, and it can avoid any messes your dog may have deposited.

While this is an older model, we find Eufy robot vacuums to be reliable and easy to use, and this is a deep discount on an already affordable device. It’s quite powerful, with reasonable battery life, but it is slow. Read our full review to learn more.

Best Buy (Sold Out)

This botvac was $50 cheaper earlier in the week, and while it may drop back down in price again, it’s still a good deal—that $550 price was the lowest we’d seen. The Roomba i7+ (9/10, WIRED Recommends) features a slate of enticing bells and whistles, not the least of which is its self-emptying behavior. Check out our full review for more info.
