I am often asked if my style has changed since becoming mom. My immediate reaction was of course not! I still love fashion. I like to express myself through clothes. I love trying out trends. I’m undeniably energized by a seriously beautiful outfit. I say this while wearing black tight pants and a basic white t-shirt that I may or may not have worn most of the week. The answer is a bit more complicated.
Motherhood doesn’t change my style, but it yes affected it. My priorities are different now. Realism transcends the sky-communication (or any other trend that doesn’t fit my lifestyle). And I no longer have the luxury of time to dream of what I would wear on any given day the same way I used to.
What I rely on as a mother of two (who often goes from press preview to school pick-up in a single drop) is a costume pattern consisting of several Quality basics but on trend has an easy silhouette, easy to move, but still speaks luxurious. Nowadays, this looks like some form cool down button, oversized (preferably striped) paired with Loose, tailor-made trousers and my easy-running Birks. (I have a lightning-fast 3-year-old son anyway.) With motherly juggling and lots going on, this easy outfit gives me a sense of calm on my journey. that I needed at this particular moment, and it always do.
