Overnight, Nissan revealing a new generation of it Patrol/Fleet off-road vehicle, and was the first to offer powerful performance Pro-4X different.

The Y63-series Patrol and Armada models are almost identical, so while only the Armada Pro-4X has been revealed – and only for North America – it seems likely that a global Patrol version could be offered in this trim as well.

The Pro-4X features a unique front face that provides superior approach angle.

Nissan says that with the adaptive air suspension set to its highest setting, the car has an approach angle of 33 degrees, a breakover angle of 25.5 degrees and a departure angle of 24.5 degrees.

The Pro-4X also has a ground clearance of 244mm.

The off-road version gets unique 20-inch black-painted alloy wheels wrapped in 275/60R20 all-terrain tires, as well as skid plates, Lava Red tow hooks, black mudguards and other black details.

Above the grille are three small air intakes, inspired by the original. Pathfinder. Nissan says these parts are non-functional, but the passenger-side fender vent is functional.

The Pro-4X comes standard with an electronic locking rear differential, a 3D surround-view camera with transparent hood view and eight selectable drive modes: Standard, Eco, Sport, Tow, Snow, Sand, Rock and Mud/Ruts.

Inside, the Pro-4X gets unique seats with “firm three-dimensional elements” that Nissan says are “inspired by a sports lumbar support.”

The black wrap applied to the dashboard, doors and centre console is inspired by the material of a diving suit and has a “subtle reflective ‘dice’ graphic effect when light hits it at the right angle”.

Like other Patrol/Armada models, it gets two 14.3-inch screens: one is a digital instrument cluster, the other is an infotainment touchscreen.

The new infotainment system has a suite of Google features including Google Maps (which can be displayed in front of the driver) and Google Assistant with cloud-based voice recognition for voice translation.

Under the hood, the Pro-4X is powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 as other Patrol/Armada models.

This engine produces 317kW of power and 700Nm of torque, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive.

The new Patrol/Armada is mounted on a new chassis with 25% increased torsional rigidity and 57% increased lateral rigidity.

The car is 35mm longer than its predecessor at 5205mm, 35mm wider at 2030mm and has the same wheelbase of 3075mm.

The Patrol retains the hydraulic power steering system but adds semi-automatic lane keeping functionality, similar to what’s on the Toyota LandCruiser 300 series.

In the US, the Pro-4X will be one of two Armadas to come standard with adaptive air suspension, but all Patrols will come with it.

Conversely, there’s also a less powerful entry-level naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 that will be offered in some markets but not in the US. It’s also unlikely to be offered in Australia.

The Y63 Patrol will be available to order in Australia from late 2026, with deliveries starting in 2027.

Nissan Australia has yet to confirm what the local lineup will look like or how much the new Patrol will cost.

The company does offer a better off-road version of the Y62 Patrol called the Warrior, however this version is developed by Australian company Premcar.
