2024 Tesla Model 3 Price and Specifications: Latest Australian Details

The Tesla Model 3 get more features and longer range with an update in late 2023 – and prices hit an all-time low in 2024 due to ongoing cuts in Australia.

Thanks latest discount up to $4000, the Model 3 RWD is available from $54,900 before on-roadswhile Long Range is currently priced $64,900 before on-roads. Both prices are down $7,000 since March.

Currently, waiting times for Model 3 are as follows:

Externally, the Model 3 RWD and Long Range have a sleeker front design with a simpler lower section than before, while the rear gets redesigned taillights introduced as part of a major update for 2023. .

Under the skin, it gets a revised suspension with new springs, dampers and subframe mounting points designed to provide a more comfortable ride as part of the overhaul.

Changes have also been made to the Michelin tyres, which are designed to offer better compliance thanks to softer sidewalls – along with better noise cancellation.

Performance levels include a bespoke front bumper and splitter, rear diffuser and side spoiler, as well as 20-inch wheels with Pirelli soles.

Inside, the Highland update brings a new screen up front… with the same size (15 inches) and processor as before.

The steering wheel has no signal or cruise control stalks. Instead there are capacitive touch buttons on the steering wheel. An ambient lighting strip runs along the base of the windscreen and the passenger air vents can now be turned off.

Rear passengers get an 8.0-inch screen for media and climate control, along with air vents and USB-C ports.

Drive system

Tesla doesn’t publicly report power and torque figures across most brands, although they do offer a 100km/h sprint time.

The following power figures are drawn from the industry guide Red Book, except Performance is the conversion of output to horsepower. It’s also down 15kW compared to the previous model.

Effective

The base Model 3 RWD has the lowest range of all variants and charges slower than its more expensive siblings.

Size

The Model 3 RWD weighs 1765kg, while the Long Range variant weighs 1828kg.

Service and warranty

Tesla supports the Model 3 with one Warranty 4 years or 80,000 km – with a separate eight-year or 160,000km warranty for the battery and transmission (eight years or 192,000km for long range and performance).

Because there are so few moving parts, the Model 3 requires little maintenance.

Tesla recommends changing air conditioning filters every two years and checking tire tread, balance and rotation every 20,000km. Thanks to regenerative braking, brake pads and discs have to work less than on internal combustion vehicles.

The Model 3 will need to have its brake fluid checked every two years, and pads and discs lubricated every 12 months in colder climates.

Safety

Model 3 has Five-star safety rating from ANCAP based on old model testing conducted in 2019.

It scored 96% for adult protection, 87% for child protection, 74% for vulnerable road user protection and 94% for safety assistance.
