The Hyundai Santa Fe has now been launched in Malaysia. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the facelifted fourth-generation SUV. first seen late last year and was officially previewed at PACE 2023.

There are two locally assembled CKD variants, the 2.2L Diesel and the 1.6L Hybrid. There is a RM10,000 discount for the first 100 bookings, bringing the price down to RM185,888 and RM205,888 on-the-road without insurance. The SUV comes with a five-year or 300,000km warranty.

The 2.2-litre turbodiesel produces 202PS and 440Nm of torque, and all this power is sent to all four wheels via Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed wet DCT. The hybrid version is powered by a 1.6-litre Gamma II T-GDI petrol engine with 180PS/265Nm of torque – combined with a 44.2kW ​​electric motor, for a total system output of 230PS/350Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of specs, the highlights mentioned in the press release include a 10.25-inch infotainment system with pre-loaded maps and navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, a powered tailgate, and the usual Hyundai SmartSense safety suite with ADAS features. Visually, the original TM Santa Fe’s front end was already a bold one with three tiers of lights. The facelift has removed the small fog lights in the lower bumper, which now features a clip-on air intake. The grille is now visually integrated with the headlights for a full-width effect.

Diving down, the grille gets a distinctive geometric inlay that looks like cascading scales. The new Santa Fe will be distinctive at night thanks to the T-shaped LED daytime running lights that bisect the main beam. There’s also a seamless line connecting the DRLs to the taillights, now connected by a thin light bar that replaces the chrome strip. The bumper design is also new and now features a full-width red reflector strip.

Inside, the dual-cabin dashboard is familiar, but the tall center console is new and now sits at an angle. Hyundai says the new cabin offers more space, comfort, and convenience. Hyundai says there are more premium soft-touch materials, too. On the new center console, all the controls are new, and the traditional gearshift lever has been replaced with buttons.

For the first time, the Santa Fe gets a terrain mode selector – a knob for Eco, Sport, Comfort and Smart driving modes, as well as presets for the HTRAC all-wheel drive system for sand, snow and mud. The “floating” centre console layout frees up space for more storage in the redesigned lower console.
