2023 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT + Sport – now with adaptive cruise control, Garmin navigation, unified braking

Released for next year’s equestrian season is the 2023 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT + Sport racing car. Tracer 9 GT + Sport gets a major upgrade in terms of adaptive cruise control as well as a unified braking system.

As the first Yamaha motorcycle to be fitted with adaptive cruise control, the Tracer 9 GT + Sport is capable of maintaining speed on the road as well as a distance from the vehicle in front. This is achieved through the use of millimeter wave radar connected to an inertial measurement unit (IMU), which controls engine speed and braking.

The IMU also controls the Unified Braking System when BC (Brake Control) is on. Yamaha emphasizes that the Unified Braking System is not a collision avoidance system. Instead, the IMU controls the brakes to maintain speed and distance when it calculates that the brake input is insufficient to prevent a collision with the vehicle ahead, thereby increasing brake pressure to help the Tracer 9 GT+ slow down.

This system also distributes braking force between the front and rear wheels, ensuring stability during emergency braking. When using only the front brake, braking force is automatically transmitted to the rear wheel, with the degree of intervention calculated using IMU data regarding changes in acceleration and pitch.

It is also linked to the Tracer 9 GT + Sport’s electronic suspension, as well as assisting and adjusting the front and rear brake force, it also adjusts the damping of the front and rear suspension to maintain stability. of the chassis. The third-generation up-and-down quickshifter enables clutchless shifting during acceleration and clutchless shifting during deceleration.

The 7-inch full-color TFT-LCD screen serves as the control panel, with three selectable themes. With Bluetooth connectivity to the rider’s smartphone as standard, the dashboard also has the option of Garmin full-screen navigation.

Electronic semi-active suspension is installed on Tracer 9 GT + Sport, with KYB Excited Damping System. Two-mode settings – Sport and Comfort – automatically adjust the damping to suit driving conditions.

In addition, four drive modes now work in conjunction with traction control, slip control, lift control and the electronic suspension’s damping control to enhance driver control and safety. Also new is the steering wheel switch cluster with control keys and Home button for a clear, reasonable layout and simple design with all switches backlit for better visibility in low light and night ride.

Other upgrades for the Tracer 9 GT+ include a larger diameter rear brake disc, now 267 mother with a 9% increase in size, along with a USB-A charging port, a new dashboard frame and a revised windshield. . The driver’s seat is height-adjustable with new cushioning and a revised shape for increased comfort.
