2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers wins amateur portion of event with Ben Silverman

Aaron Rodgers won an event in early February. That’s not what he wanted.

Rodgers and PGA Tour pundit Ben Silverman took the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am net win by under 26 over the course of three days. The final round was canceled after inclement weather pushed the professional portion of the event to Monday. The duo shot 62-60-67 in three rounds and beat Peter Malnati and Don Colleran, a FedEx executive.

“That’s really important,” Rodgers said of the win. “It’s always been on my to-do list. I’ve played in Tahoe for 18 years and have never really sniffed higher, such as eighth. But I’m satisfied with the partnership. this week Ben what a great guy I know we’re going to have fun Played with Darius Rucker I’ve known him for over a decade he’s a great guy You know it’s gonna was a great week.

“Then we put together a couple of good rounds. The first two innings. Today, especially the last 10 holes, I was in the bag and my partner picked me up.”

Rodgers’ 10 handicap has been questioned more than a few times throughout the week – he is a really good player who has been featured in multiple editions of The Match – but he said after the event that he He hasn’t played since before NFL season begins, which may have contributed to the high handicaps.

“I didn’t have the confidence to come,” he said. “I hit 86 at Sherwood on Monday and that was with a few balls in my pocket on some holes. And I played at Cypress on Tuesday with a good friend of mine… My Caddie Also out there with me if you wanted to see you wouldn’t expect anything this week But something happened when I visited Spy Had a good round at the Monterey Peninsula on Friday. Then we’ve been battling the storm for the past few days.

“But this is a pretty big deal for me. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. It’s been a great week as well as, you know, spending time with Ben alone. But winning is the sweetest thing. .”

How good are Rodgers this week? His partner, Silverman, missed two professional innings and they still won the nets championship.

Past winners of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am’s amateur team include Larry Fitzgerald and Bill Murray, though both did so over the course of 72 holes. Rodgers said the shortening event would not affect the extent to which he implied it for competitors.

“Well-executed [I’ll have bragging rights]”, he said. “Yes. Sure. Josh Allen told me this win will have an asterisk because it’s only three innings. But I think that name, our name will be there for a long time.”
