2022 PGA Championship Missed: Scottie Scheffler, Dustin Johnson, Main Stars Can’t Make It to Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – A fun weekend at the 2022 PGA Championship hits over the next two days, but the devastation of the Southern Hills coupled with the Oklahoma tornado ensures that some of the biggest names in the sport won’t be. face off for the Wanamaker Trophy this weekend. Scottie Scheffler and Dustin Johnson were among the biggest names to miss the 4th cut more than scheduled on Friday night.

Scheffler, the world No. 1 ranked golfer, was unable to salvage his week’s slow start, after opening round 71 with 75. He became the second world No. 1 golfer in a row to miss out. PGA. Championships, joining Dustin Johnson, who did so last year at Kiawah Island. This year, Johnson fired 73s in a row to drop two shots from the cut.

In total, only 4 of the top 25 golfers in the world – Scheffler, Johnson, Patrick Cantlay and Daniel Berger – missed the weekend’s game. However, two of the top five are in that group with Scheffler and Cantlay having disappointing performances.

The most notable of these week’s cuts was Tiger Woods, who finished a clear 3 out of 36 holes. Woods, played only his second event since a serious rollover in which he nearly lost his leg, followed by 74 in round 1 with 69 in round 2. As he entered the clubhouse set, 69 was tied with the 11th best round of the day.
