Lotus flower confirmed the standard specification for its four-cylinder version The first version of Emira sport car.
The Emira is Lotus’ last petrol-powered car before the new all-electric era begins on March 29 when Model 132 debuts for the first time. And what a petrol – a version of the world’s most powerful four-cylinder, no less.
UK customers can pre-order their chosen vehicle via Lotus’ website from 8 April and deliveries will begin by the end of 2022. Australia will also receive the car.
Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed, but in the UK the first edition of the Emira will start at £71,995 (A$130,000). In contrast, the first version V6 launched for £75,995 ($137,300).

Said V6 Emira First Edition is $184,990 in Australia, which gives a pretty good idea of what to expect in regards to local four-cylinder pricing. From there, more affordable versions with both engines will follow.
The first version of Lotus Emira 2022 is powered by an instance of Mercedes-AMG M139 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine manufacturing 268kW power (360bhp).
This is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters and power sent to the rear wheels.
A variation of this motor is used in Mercedes-AMG A45 and it’s currently the world’s most powerful 2.0-litre engine available for road use, delivering up to 155kW per litre.
The exhaust fitted to the four-cylinder Emira First Edition was designed by Lotus and is unique to the four-cylinder sports car.
“It’s a separate rear-wheel drive variant of the transmission developed by Lotus in partnership with AMG,” said Lotus boss Gavan Kershaw in relation to the standard eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
“On top of that, the gearshift strategy has been defined by the Hethel team as part of the vehicle’s performance attributes.”
Four optional packages will be standard on the Emira First Edition. These include:

Lotus has confirmed that the Emira First Edition will ride on 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, hidden behind two-piece brake discs and Lotus-branded brake calipers. Calipers can be painted red, black, gold or silver.
Other exterior details include a unique engine bay cover, C-pillar badges, LED ambient lights, titanium exhaust pipes, power-folding rearview mirrors and rear parking sensors.
Inside, there are heated seats with 12-way power adjustment, driver’s seat memory, climate control, cruise control, keyless entry and start, selectable driving modes and satellite navigation. factory satellites are standard, along with a DAB+ digital radio and a 340W sound system.
There’s also a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 12.3-inch digital driver display.
The interior is available in seven different colors including red, black, gray and brown Nappa leather, as well as black Alcantara with red, yellow or gray stitching. There are also satin chrome finishes, white ambient lighting and Lotus-branded door sill panels.
2022 Lotus Emira First Edition has the following exterior paint colors:

Lotus has previously confirmed that more paint colors will be available when the non-First Edition lineup arrives.
What is Lotus Emira?
The new Emira builds on the Lotus Sports Car Architecture previously announced in 2021.
It’s a lightweight bonded aluminum construction, encased in a body inspired by the all-electric Evija (with a slight Maserati MC20 and McLaren Artura about it, too).
Measure at 4412mm Long, 1895mm wide and 1225mm tall, with a 2575mm wheelbase, Emira is 100mm shorter than Porsche 911but 43mm wider with a 35mm longer wheelbase.
Lotus is targeting a curb weight of 1405kg in the lightest form of the car, about 30kg lighter than a Porsche 718 Cayman GTS with dual clutch transmission.
Instead of a more modern electric power steering system, the Emira uses a hydraulic steering system designed to provide better feedback to the driver.
There are two suspension tunes on offer: Tour, which is designed for everyday road use, and Sport, which is fairly straightforward and part of the Lotus Driver Package.
Emira not only has a sharp look but also has a smart body.
Lotus says it generates balanced passive downforce on both axles, while the air intakes in front of the rear wheel arches deliver cool air into the hungry mid-engine.
There’s no active aerodynamics, and no top spoilers here.
Inside, this is a strict two-seater, but Lotus has focused on giving it a comfortable and utilitarian space.
The driver’s seat is four-way electrically adjustable and Lotus says the greenhouse has been designed to provide good visibility for everyday driving.
There’s 208L of space behind the seats, and 151L in the trunk behind the engine.
Lotus says the doors will swallow 500ml bottles, and have USB and 12V connections. The 10-speaker sound system is equipped with the British brand Uni-Q.
There are some classic Lotus touches – like the exposed links on the manually-fitted cars and the compact steering wheel.
Lotus will provide Emira with a suite of adaptive driving aids.
All will be offered with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, driver fatigue monitoring, road sign information, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear cross-traffic alert. and lane change assist.
Vehicles will also get keyless entry and start packages, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding mirrors, rear parking sensors (front option), auto-dimming rearview mirrors, curtain airbags and control panel. startup control.
