2022 LIV Golfing in Bedminster leaderboard: Henrik Stenson relies on steady hit to win his first game

The third LIV Golf Invitational Series event ended Sunday as Henrik Stenson was able to compete on the 48-person course at Trump National Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey. Claiming victory on his LIV Golf debut, the former European Ryder Cup captain was able to take a break from the early week’s fuss and just focus on his game on his way to the winners’ circle.

“It’s definitely been a busy and emotional week, without a doubt or 10 days,” Stenson said on Saturday. “Like I said, I’m not at my best (Saturday), but I still have focus and a good attitude, and that’s what kept me in the ball game. Yeah, happy with the way I am. Keep your head down and focus on business.

Starting the final half under 9 and with a three-stroke advantage over Dustin Johnson, Stenson continued to bow and lean on his historic-sounding hit. Wolff closed the gap to two as he made the eagles 10th at par-4 and eventually entered the round of the day with 7 under 64. In the end, however, the even nature of Stenson proved to be too much to pass up.

Another point secured Stenson his first worldwide win in five years as he finished 11th under and two ahead of Johnson and Wolff.

Stenson not only won the individual title — and the $4 million grand prize — but also led his Majesticks team to the finish line in second place in the team section of the event. Raising the team trophy for the second straight tournament is Johnson’s 4 Aces.
