2022 Ford Ranger XL, XLT launched in Thailand – XLT now has AEB, lane keeping assist; from RM71k-RM121k


Ford has officially announced Ranger XL and XLT . models in Thailand, almost two months after the launch of the higher-end line Ranger Sport and Wildtrak. There are 12 variants for the XL and XLT series, with prices ranging from 554,000 baht (RM71k) to 943,000 baht (RM121k).

Included in the price of the vehicle is a 5-year or 150,000 km factory warranty, plus free first-year coverage for the first year. Based on HeadlightmagThe XL is available in three designs – Single Cabin, Extended Cabin, and Double Cabin, while the XLT is only available in Extended Cabin or Double Cabin formats.

All models are equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBlue 4-cylinder diesel engine that makes 150 hp at 3,500 rpm and 350 Nm at 1,500 – 2,750 rpm or 170 hp at 3,500 rpm, and 405 Nm at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. Ford says the engine is compatible with B20 biodiesel and the 170 PS version is unique to the XLT line.

There can be a choice of a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual (both versions share the newly developed MT88 transmission), or a six-speed automatic (6R80) depending on the variant, but the automatic only available on select XLT models.

Interestingly, even the entry-level 4×2 horse (the one with reflector headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, unpainted exterior trim and two airbags) comes with an 8-inch digital gauge inch and large 10.1 inch touch screen. , complete with Ford’s latest SYNC 4A system.

This enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and it also has a built-in e-SIM for over-the-air software updates, WiFi hotspot functionality, and remote smartphone access via via the FordPass app. The Extended Cab models get four speakers, while the Twin Cab variants get upgraded with six airbags and six speakers.

Move up to the XLT range and you get nicer LED reflector headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, rear vents and a reversing camera. The 4×4 variants come with an electronically-locked rear differential and Terrain Management.

An optional RM5,000 package can also be assigned to XLT customers. This includes front and rear parking sensors, ESC with free wheel protection, Hill Start Assist and Rollover Mitigation, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning with brake assist and lane-keeping assist. This is a no-brainer, really.

With that, the Ranger lineup in Thailand has been completed. In case you missed the news, Ranger Raptor has been launched in the UK, and Thai customers get the red 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6.
