2022 Easter Jeep Safari introduces 4xe, Grand Cherokee concepts

Jeep car will return to Moab this year with a host of new concepts and builds and return for its annual Easter Jeep Safari. Wrangler take center stage this year as the foundation for three out of five concept car The iconic 4×4 brand will present itself on its traditional stomping platform. The fourth one is Gladiator-based monstrosity and the fifth one is devoted to the latest (current) addition to the Jeep lineup – Grand Cherokee 4xe. Let’s dive right in.

Magneto 2.0

Jeep brought its all-electric Magneto concept to the Easter Jeep Safari last year, so the idea of a battery-powered Wrangler concept is nothing new. However, it has been upgraded (literally “amped up”) for 2022. Instantaneous torque output is now 850 pound-feet (more than three times that of the Magneto 1.0) at wheel, and the total output power is now 625 hp. And all of that comes through an old-fashioned manual transmission.

To handle that torque, Jeep had to borrow a manual transmission from a Hellcat and then boost it up. more. Plus, the massive 40-inch wheels require an even stronger axle ratio (yes, even with 850 lb-ft to the touch). The Magneto 2.0 boasts a Dynatrac 60 Pro-Rock front axle and an extra-large Dynatrac 80 on the rear axle with a 5.38 ratio and lockout for both axles, also requiring a custom drive shaft.

Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe Concept

We recently got our hands on Jeep’s new plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee 4xe, and while you’ll have to wait until the end of the month to get our impressions, we can safely say they do. I am encouraged to see Jeep embrace the PHEV Powertrain along with the battery-electric concept. This example boasts purely aesthetic upgrades for the most part, though the 33-inch BFG mud terrain offers some extra handling.

’41 Concepts

The Jeep ’41 is also part of the company’s electrification strategy. This 4xe-based Wrangler is finished in what Jeep calls “DRAB ’41 olive matte green” with powder-coated bumpers and accessories. They may look like steel, but they are actually 17 inches after-sales alloyed by Fifteen52. They are wrapped in 35-inch mud terrain with a two-inch lifter installed to clean up excess rubber.

Note that this combination is not yet available in the real world. Jeep’s 35-inch package, called the Xtreme Recon, is only available on the Rubicon 3.6L and 392 models at the moment. What about later? Jeep brand boss, Jim Morrison, says you should check out this space.

Rubicon’s 20th Anniversary Ideas

This is quite simple. It builds with the signature red interior found in previous commemorative Rubicon models; you can also recognize the outside of Granite Crystal. To contrast with red, Jeep chose yellow drag Hooks and accent badges along with the said hood decal. A 2-inch JPP upgrade package, 17-inch Mopar grain-ready wheels, and 37-inch mud off-road complete the package.

Bob

OK, it’s technically “Jeep Bob Concept”, but we’ll stick with “Bob”. This concept gets its name from the short practice truck overhangs for a better off-road departure angle, commonly referred to as “undulating” and commonly seen in pickups and other off-road vehicles that have a lot of body hanging over their rear wheels. That’s exactly what happened here. See, Bob started life as a Fighter with 3.0 liters diesel oil before Jeep’s fun team gets to work.

Bob gets a 3-inch lift with custom suspension components, a Dynatrac Pro-Rock 60 axle is supported by a combination of King Coils and Bypass shock absorbers, and 40-inch tires mounted to 20-inch bead wheels. Then Jeep engineers hacked remove everything that gets in the way, including a bit of the bed and the Gladiator’s large screens. The result is Bob. Hi Bob.

What’s next?

We will have a chance to drive a Jeep concept car in Moab late April, so be sure to check back for drive impressions and additional photos at the end of the month!
