2 cases of the omicron variant have been identified in the UK: Coronavirus Update: NPR

At least two people in the UK have omicron variant of coronavirus, the Minister of Health of this country announced.
The cases are related and involve travel to southern Africa, where the latest variant was first identified, Health Minister Sajid Javid said on Saturday. Individuals are isolated at home.
Cases have also occurred in Botswana, Belgium, Hong Kong and Israel over a relatively short period of time.
In the US, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has so far not identified any cases of the fast-spreading variant, which was first detected in South Africa.
Omicron is the first new variant of interest since delta.
